Chelsea
manager, Maurizio Sarri, has won his first silverware in his career after
Chelsea beat Arsenal 4-1 to win the Europa League in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Sarri
has become the first Italian coach to win the Europa league/UEFA Cup since
Alberto Malesani led Parma to win the title in 1999. An impressive second half by the West London
side ensured the former Napoli manager lift his first trophy in his career as a
manager.
After
a stalemate first half, Chelsea started the second half on a good footing,
which resulted in Olivier Giroud breaking the deadlock on the 49th
minutes. Pedro made it a two-goal cushion for the Blues in the 60th
minutes before Hazard wrapped the game up for the one-time champions with a
brace.
Alex Iwobi before Hazard’s second goal climb
off the bench to give the Gunners a lifeline after his half volley from the
edge of the box found the back of the net.
Maurizio
Sarri, 60, after the win tonight is the oldest manager to win the Europa League
surpassing former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, who won it in 2016 at
age 53.
This
sum up fairly a good debut season for the manager-finishing third in the
Premier League to secure Champions League football next season; played in two
finals and won one.
