Man Utd star Marcus Rashford in U-TURN over future amid major Real Madrid links

MANCHESTER UNITED star Marcus Rashford will reportedly reject any approach from Real Madrid in the summer in a bid to remain at Old Trafford.

The 21-year-old was rumoured to be open to talks with the European champions amid concerns over his place in the team under former United boss Jose Mourinho.
The England international was in and out of the starting line-up throughout Mourinho’s rein but has been a star performer since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over as caretaker boss.
Rashford has scored twice in three games under the Norwegian and looks to be ahead of Romelu Lukaku in the fight for a centre-forward starting berth - his favoured position.
And now, according to The Sun, Mourinho’s departure from the club coupled with Solskjaer’s faith in him has led him to a U-turn from the player over his future plans with his boyhood team.
Rashford is now likely to sign a new long-term deal with United with his current deal expiring in just 18 months.
Real have been linked with the forward for several months as they look to go some way to replacing Cristiano Ronaldo’s goals.
The five time Ballon d’Or winner moved to Juventus last summer and Real have missed his presence massively so far this season.
The La Liga club have been in contact with Rashford’s representatives and were serious about pushing for a move for this coming summer, but any deal may now be dead in the water.
United travel to Newcastle on Wednesday looking to make it four wins on the bounce since Solskjaer took over and the new boss says he is hopeful Rashford will be available for selection after picking up an injury in the win over Bournemouth.
“I think he’ll be OK,” said Solskjaer. “He’s been working so hard and he’s been a bit tired. I think he’ll be alright.”
Despite his age, Rashford has already made 146 appearances for the Red Devils since making his debut, scoring 38 goals.
He has also scored six goals in 31 England games and was part of Gareth Southgate’s squad for the World Cup in Russia last summer.
Meanwhile, Alexis Sanchez could feature for United at St James’ Park after being sidelined with a hamstring injury since November.
The Chile international’s Old Trafford career looked set to be over after he failed to make any impact since moving from Arsenal.
Many believed that Mourinho’s style of play did not suit the forward but with Solskjaer now in charge he may have been given one last chance to resurrect his career at the club.
